Disk Defragmentation

If you are experiencing slow downs then you may want to utilize a disk defragmentation utility.

Disk defrag is designed to increase access speed by rearranging files stored on a disk to occupy contagious storage locations, a technique called defragmentation.

One of the biggest reasons for defragging your hard drive is you'll likely experience faster speeds and less loading time. When your files are not scattered but are stored in one place, they load faster and your whole system speeds up. Your computer can sort and locate files much easier.

Windows comes with its own disk defrag utility or you can use a program like https://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag/

USB printer issues when installing

When installing a HP Deskjet 2480 to a fresh install Windows 7 machine I encountered an error in the installation regarding there being USB problems with drivers/hardware even though the USB connections on the laptop worked fine. To get round this I saw this solution which evades the 'USB Ready' aspect of printer installation.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/computer-does-not-have-the-necessary-usb-software/8147d409-d076-49eb-8572-5631f9c5e1f8?page=2

Extract the archive to a folder and then simply search it for 'USB Ready' to delete that particular file. On the next install there should be no problems.
